Freeman Vineyards
About Us
Freeman Vineyards, located in the Hilltops region of New South Wales, was established in 1999 on the home block Altura Vineyard at an elevation of 560 metres. A family wine company, FREEMAN specializes in Italian origin varietal wines.
Among the FREEMAN Hilltops brand heroes are Prosecco, Fiano, Sangiovese, Nebbiolo and the flagship FREEMAN Secco, a red blend of two rare varieties – Rondinella and Corvina.
The vineyard's elevation, cool climate and the well-drained 15-metre deep soils combine to create the ideal viticultural terroir that is highly suited to growing Italian origin red varieties.
In 2004, Freeman Vineyards expanded by acquiring a neighbouring property, one of the original vineyards in the Hilltops region. Some of these vines have since been grafted to Nebbiolo and Sangiovese. The property also features a variety of white grapes, including Pinot Grigio, Riesling, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Gewürztraminer, Semillon, Aleatico, and the very rare Hungarian siblings Furmint and Harslevelu.
Just over a decade later, Freeman Vineyards expanded again, acquiring two nearby established vineyards, increasing the total area under vine to 200 hectares. Freeman Vineyards combines a rich history, unique soil composition, a diverse array of grape varieties and innovative thinking to produce exceptional wines, making it a prominent name in the Hilltops region.
